Liposuction (abdomen, buttocks, thighs, chin…)
Tumescent liposuction is a tried and tested procedure that removes excess fat in a specific area quickly, permanently and almost painlessly. It is an invasive procedure in which fat is suctioned from the target area with a thin tube called a cannula. The procedure allows for immediate reshaping of the target area. Excess fat which has accumulated and does not respond to diet and exercise is removed permanently.
Classic tumescent liposuction can help with removing excess fat from almost any area on the body – belly, inner or outer thighs, hips, arms or chin.
What happens during the procedure?
Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the procedure can be performed either as an outpatient procedure under local anaesthesia or with hospitalization under general anaesthesia.
The surgeon infuses the area of treatment with a tumescent solution that loosens the fat cells. Then they suction the fat using a microcannula. The duration of the procedure depends on the size of area of treatment. It typically takes 1 to 2 hours to perform. Microcannulas suctioning the fat leave hardly any scars. However, minor swelling or bruising may appear immediately after the procedure.
How long does the recovery last?
After the procedure you will need to wear a compression garment day and night in the first 4 weeks. You will only take it off during personal hygiene. Liposuction does not require a long recovery time. If you feel fine, you can return to your normal office work on the third or fourth day after the surgery. You may go back to physical activity after 3 weeks following the surgery.
