She has participated in several internships (USA, Berlin, Madrid), several foreign and Czech congresses, where she is a regular speaker, and organizes similar meetings under the auspices of the Surgical Clinic of Pardubice Hospital. Her last major event in 2018 was an international meeting held at the East Bohemian Theatre in Pardubice, called Breast Cancer - A Kaleidoscope of Experience, which was attended by nearly 150 Czech and foreign breast cancer experts.

She exaggerates when she says that her future was probably decided the moment her mother, a surgeon, met her father, who came from an old butcher family from Žamberk, Czech Republic. Jana is a former long-time top basketball player, who played for Hradec Králové Lionesses in her hometown when she was a young adult. She graduated from Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové in 2006.

She gained her first experience at the Department of Surgery in Hradec Králové University Hospital, where she focused on breast cancer treatment Two years later, she moved to Pardubice, a city that is near Hradec Králové, where she got a new job and a new career focus. At that time, she became more interested in treatment of malignant melanoma. "The two diagnoses are very close to each other, they are connected by radiation-guided sentinel node biopsy, so it seems logical to me that one doctor can treat both diseases," Jana Mergancová explains, adding that she considers breast surgery to be a clean, elegant field with a very close relationship to plastic and reconstructive procedures. "I believe that as a woman, I can empathize with the fear of breast deformity or loss that women experience. I am confident that a welcoming attitude, open communication and feminine empathy help heal only the body but also the soul."
