Sclerotherapy
Sclerotization or sclerotherapy is a method of treating small veins – flagella, which are not suitable for surgery. Outpatient injection treatment does not limit the patient in any way, does not require incapacity for work and can be repeated as needed.
Treatment procedure
Sclerotherapy is the intravenous administration of an active substance that causes destruction of the endothelium (inner lining of the vein) and damage to the collagen tissue of the vein wall. The created local inflammation leads to the adhesion of the vein wall, and to its gradual closure and absorption.
A solution of the substance is used for the smallest flagella, and a special foam is used for larger veins, which stays in the vein longer and closes it more effectively. Compression tampons are applied to the injection sites, and it is advisable to wear compression stockings after application. We recommend wearing the stockings for 5 days continuously, and for another 10 days during the day. Normal work activities are not limited, it is advisable not to do sports for 2 weeks.
Notice
Before starting treatment with sclerosing, it is important to examine the venous system, because if it is affected, there is no hope for a lasting effect of the treatment. It is necessary to solve the cause first, and then to sclerotize the small veins.
